Description
As more and more people with disabilities become customers and enter the workforce, how will your agency handle the resulting communications challenges? More people have disabilities than we commonly realize. Many disabilities are not apparent. As we age, we become more disabled. About one in six Americans has some degree of disability. Half of people 65 or older have a disability.

How will you put communications materials in alternative formats? Can people with cognitive or visual disabilities access your Internet Website? Are your offices and meeting rooms accessible? Do you have evacuation plans for people who can't see, are hard of hearing, or use a wheelchair? How will President George W. Bush's New Freedom Initiative help? Learn about the www.disabilityinfo.gov website. Come learn now what you need to know.

How to Register
To register, send your name, title, agency, email address and phone number to Pat Gould pegould@comcast.net . Space is limited. Reserve your place now.

Directions to White House Conference Center
726 Jackson Place, NW is near the White House between 17th and 16th streets near "H" Street NW directly East of the New Executive Office Bldg (NEOB) which fronts on 17th St. NW.

Parking in the area of the WHCC is very difficult, so take METRO! The Farragut West Metro stop on the Orange or Blue Line is quite convenient (and so is Farragut North). From Farragut West take the 17th St. exit and walk South one block to H St. At H, turn toward the corner of H and Jackson Place, and then right for about a half block before turning in at #726 on your right.

You will be entering through an arched portico toward a courtyard. Enter the door on the immediate right directly inside the portico and take the elevator or stairs to the Truman Room.

If arriving by Cab, the driver on Constitution Ave. should turn North on 17th St. toward the White House; then turn right on H St. NW and proceed the half block to the corner of H and Jackson Place to let you off.

Security
There are barricades and guards on the corner there to filter White House traffic proceeding down Jackson Place. Just tell the guard you are attending a Federal Communicators Network workshop at the White House Conference Center. No special passes are necessary.
