Welcome!

About FCN:   At the request of Vice President Al Gore, the National Partnership for Reinventing Government   (NPR), formerly the National Performance Review, organized theFederal Communicators Network (FCN) in 1996 as a national organization for Federal communicators to help bring reinvention information to front-line Federal workers and "create an environment for reinvention to flourish."  On May 14, 1998 Vice President Gore announced the creation of the FCN Website. He said: "This website is an important step in our effort to create a more responsive and productive government for American people in the coming century."

Membership Profile:  We are more than 600 members. Three quarters of our members are from Federal agencies, offices, and military establishments in Washington DC, across the country and around the world. The remainder are from the legislative and judicial branches; interagency, international, nonprofit, and private groups; state and local organizations, and Federal unions. Sixty percent of FCN members identify themselves as writers and editors. Another 12 percent describe themselves as public affairs specialists or managers. Also represented are a variety of talents that include webmasters, artists and photographers, librarians, and representatives of personnel, and quality offices.  With this range of talent, expertise, and circulation, the FCN is a powerful agent for communicating the message of better government.

How To Join:  FCN is open to all Federal communicators willing and able to promote better government that costs less and delivers results Americans care about. FCN targets those most likely to spread the word to other Federal employees such as employee newsletter editors, reinvention and quality proponents, organizational development and training specialists, web managers and librarians. There are no membership dues. Regular membership: Is open to all Federal employees in the Federal government. Affiliate membership: Is open to nongovernment persons engaged in communication or public relations whose professional activities enhance, further, or support the objectives of the FCN. The steering committee approves the application of these non-federal members. Membership Benefits | Application Form
