Meeting Notes and Action Items:

Charles briefly discussed The PEW Research Center, For The People & The Press, specifically, Section V – Media Report. The report may be viewed at http://www.people-press.org/media00sec5.htm. It will be included as an insert for the seminar portfolio.

Action Item: Donise Cheeks will include this report with other accumulated material for the seminar.

As of today’s meeting, we’ve not received confirmation that David Gergen will be keynote speaker. Carol reported seeing and speaking with him at the Senior Executive Association Conference and he gave his word to follow-up.

Action Item: Cindy Saboe to follow-up with David Gergen.

Carol pointed out her contact at http://www.Planetgov.com may be interested in joining our media team and suggested we invite her to a future meeting – the team agreed.

Action Item: Carol Harvey to invite her contact to a future meeting.

Donise contacted Stephen Barr, The Washington Post and Tavis Smiley, BET, Inc., as potential panelists - waiting for responses.

Action Item: Suzanne will contact editor of Latina Magazine as potential panelist.

Action item: Donise will call Nina Tottenberg, National Public Radio as potential panelist.

Action Item: Carol will contact Brien Friel at Planetgov.com as potential panelist and/or as media team member.

Action Item: Simone will work with journalism schools, national Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Associations for College editors as potential panelists.

Action Item: David Starck will contact FCC as for guest speaker in PM to talk about changes in the communication world.

Contact Elizabeth Soyster and invite her to participate with our weekly meeting, and provide Donise with her email address
Provide Donise with email addresses of members of the Senior Fellows Program
Solicit volunteers from SFP to attend future meetings

Action Item: Charles will review Slate Magazine for about two weeks and report back to the team with his impression of them, for hosting an FCN Workshop.

Items for further discussion and reminders:

Consider a workshop presentation by owners of Firstgov.gov
Charges by Natcher Center for rental and exhibit space. This may preclude solicitation of sponsor exhibitors and we should consider alternatives such as: sponsor banners, hand-outs, fliers, and Ads
Morley or Pat McGinnis should highlight the availability of E-gov in their speaking points
Create materials to promote and educate about FCN
