December 2000 Marketing Seminar
FCN/Senior Fellows Weekly Meeting
June 12, 2000 Meeting
Meeting Attendees:
Sareen Gerson, OSHA
David Starck, Treasury
Dann Stuart, USDA
Pat Wood, NPR
Sherri Burns, GSA
Carol Harvey, NPR
Marci Hilt, USDA
Donise Cheeks, IRS
The Team reviewed the letter that we are sending to David Gergen. The draft was finalized and we expect to send it out soon. Donise Cheeks will create a letterhead template that we will use for the Seminar correspondence, including the "Gergen" letter. The attachments to the letter will include a fact sheet, a published story about last year's event, and a draft agenda.
The agenda was revised slightly and we decided it might be appropriate to have a keynote speaker after lunch to help convene the group. Carol Harvey will investigate finding a good speaker for this time slot. We agreed that the speaker would need to be lively and of interest to retain the attention of the audience.
After reviewing the agenda, we decided that we might not repeat all the breakout sessions. This may be too burdensome for the guest speakers to speak in the morning and the afternoon. However, speakers that are willing to stay the whole day will be able to repeat their sessions again in the afternoon. We will put an asterisk next to those sessions that will be repeated later in the day. Pat and Donise will adjust the time on the agenda to give attendees time to get from one session to the next.
Agenda Items for June 19 meeting:
The importance of getting this letter out, precluded all other business and reports. Next week's agenda will cover:
· Discuss meeting that we are planning on holding in September. Donise will check with the White House Conference Center about room availability.
· Determine a selection process for seminar chair and co-chair
· Latina Magazine contact
· BET, Inc. contact
· Securing VHS copies of 1999 Seminar
· GWU student creating a highlight of 1999 VHS
· Extending invite to journalism students to attend 2000 Seminar
· Review trade show policy/procedures to use as strawman for exhibitors
REMINDERS (note: items that we don't want to lose from meeting to meeting will be contained in the reminder section):
· Morley or Pat McGinniss should highlight the availability of E-Gov in their speaking points. This will tie in with the focus of the keynote
speakers (Communications for the New Millennium).
· Create materials to promote and educate colleagues about the benefits of joining FCN
· Ask Rich Kellet, GSA, to analyze FCN database to provide estimate of federal workers reached by FCN.
· Consider inviting FCC as a guest speaker to talk about changes in the communication world.
