Thanks to our GSA friend
Gary Borgoyne, we now have a list server up and running. If you
have e-mail, please subscribe to this service to receive material
the Federal Communicators Network sends out. For those who do
not have e-mail, I will continue to fax to you. You need to
let me know you have subscribed to the list server so I can take
you off the fax list, or you will receive multiple mailings.
Just call or send me an e-mail telling me you've joined the server.
You will receive a confirmation notice by e-mail once you have
subscribed.
Here's the info you
need to know about subscribing:
E-mail a message to "listproc@etc.fed.gov".
In the body (not the title) of the message, type the following:
Subscribe ComNet-L Firstname Lastname [Example: Subscribe ComNet-L
Jane Doe]
This list server is intended
as a one-way informational exchange for the Federal Communicators
Network. Messages are broadcast to every member on the list.
Recipients of the broadcast will NOT be able to reply to the
messages. Please do not try to respond, or it will overwhelm
and possibly crash the system. We will eventually have a
bulletin board for everyone to post and reply to messages, but
for now this list server is solely to disseminate information
one-way. If you have a message for the entire network, I am happy
to send it out immediately or include it in the next Alert. If
you have ANY questions about the list server, contact me through
my direct e-mail address ("carrie.carnes@npr.gsa.gov")
or phone (202) 632-1166.
If you wish to unsubscribe
to this server:
E-mail a message to
"listproc@etc.fed.gov". In the body of the message,
type the following: UNSUBSCRIBE ComNet-L
NOTE: If you change
e-mail addresses, please unsubscribe under your old address and
resubscribe with your new address so we don't innundate the server
with addresses that are no longer used. Thanks!
Communicators Network
By now you've noticed the name change. You are still welcome
to provide any comments to me regarding the name change from
Editors to Communicators. Because this Alert is very timely,
I wanted to get this information out right away, but I realize
I made a November 7 deadline, so the name is still in limbo until
everyone gets a chance to provide an opinion.
