NPR'S Temporary Location
As mentioned in the last Alert newsletter, NPRs office
at 750 17th Street is currently undergoing renovations. In the
meantime, we are temporarily operating from 801 Pennsylvania
Avenue. Wed like to refrain from having guests at the temporary
location, since we anticipate moving back to our renovated offices
in early March. However, you can continue to reach me on (202)
632-0405 and by e-mail at sally.lee@npr.gsa.gov. Other NPR staff
may be reached on the main office line at (202) 632-0150 or by
fax on (202) 632-0390. Please continue to send mail to our 750
17th Street address. Thanks for your patience!
NPR Doesn't Mean What
it Used to...
While our office undergoes renovations, so too has the NPR. Please
spread the word that the National Performance Review has reinvented
itself with a new name and organizational structure. Now called
the National Partnership for Reinventing Government (and still
known as the NPR), we have been reorganized into eight teams:
Hassle-Free Service; Safety and Health; Families and Communities;
Economy; Technology; Government Management; Communication; and
NPR Office of the Future (Operations). Refer to the January 30
Reinvention Express (Vol. 4, No. 1) for more details.
The FCN Steering Committee
Wants You!
If you consider yourself to be a reinventor, innovator, or just
someone who is enthusiastic about promoting a better government
that costs less, the FCN Steering Committee wants you! The FCN
targets those most likely to spread the word to other federal
employees, such as employee newsletter editors, reinvention and
quality proponents, organizational development and training specialists,
web managers, and librarians. The Steering Committee meets about
every two weeks to manage the major programs and activities of
the FCN. Development of the FCN web site and ideas for upcoming
federal communicator workshops are just some of the topics that
we discuss. We welcome your ideas, input, and participation.
If youd like to attend an upcoming FCN Steering Committee
meeting, call me on (202) 632-0405 or send e-mail to sally.lee@npr.gsa.gov.
Look forward to hearing from you!
Happy Anniversary, NPR!
Can you believe that it's been five years already? The NPR staff
is busily preparing for the March 3 anniversary celebration.
Stayed tuned for more information about how the NPR plans to
honor the past, and imagine the future. |

FCN Website... Coming
Soon
Progress continues to be made on the FCN web site. Many thanks
to the folks at the CIA, Department of Treasury, General Services
Administration, and Government Executive Magazine for their hard
work in developing and sponsoring the site. We are still aiming
to have it up and running in the next few weeks. We'll keep you
posted.... |
Federal Publishers Committee
This interagency group of federal publishers, editors, and printing
specialists holds monthly meetings at the Government Printing
Office in Washington, DC. The group communicates primarily by
broadcast fax. For more information, contact Glenn King at (301)
457-1171 or by e-mail at glenn.w.king@ccmail.census.gov. In fact,
you wont want to miss the March 18 meeting. Our own Pat
Wood will be speaking about the NPRs new name and mission.
Shell also talk about the FCN and demo the FCN web site,
which we hope to debut in mid-March. The meeting will be held
from 9:45 a.m. to noon at the GPO Building, North Capitol & H
St., NW, Carl Hayden Room, 8th floor. By Metro, take the Red
Line to Union Station. |
